Thailands Extreme Weather
In Thailand it is common for lightning to come with different types of rain storms, most often monsoons. This is due to the fact that lighting comes from cumulonimbus clouds which are large enough to house pellets of ice and even electricity. There have been many reported cases of consistent lightning and rainfall causing property damage and even taking the lives of many farm animals and some people in Thailand. Thailand is a hotspot for these lightning strike due to the geography and how flat most of the country is with the exception of mountains in the South. Like Central Africa and South America, Thailands location and geography are disastrous recipe for lightning storms. It is said that in these areas the frequency of lightning strikes as well as deaths are increasing. In Thailand alone hundreds of deaths can be accounted for by lightning strikes in the last few decades, and the government worries this will continue as lighting strike deaths are seen as an act of god. Thailands government has taken many steps in the last decade including introducing a new lightning detection system and better informing their public of the dangers of lightning that come with their heavy storms. Their mitigation efforts towards lightning death prevention are very noticeable due to the large amount of publicity around the issue.
On the other hand, Thailand also suffers from massive heat waves. As this year even, entering the month of March Thai citizens noticed that temperatures were rising much more rapidly than previous years, and they entered another heat wave. These heat waves are very common for them, and the problem has been debated for many years. Thailand has said before that climate change in the hemisphere must be addresed if their heat waves will ever improve. However, more recently it was said that if a bill to help climate change goes unpassed in France Thailand may be looking at heat wave like weather over half of the year.

Hey Jordan! Wow it was very interesting learning about Thailands extreme weather hazards! I've always wanted to visit Thailand so learning more about the countries weather precautions was very insightful. I had no idea Thailand was known to have many storms that included lightning to event massive heat waves. Something to consider before visiting. Great job!!
